The Barnstormers has served Ridley Park and its surrounding community since 1909 and it the oldest continuously operating community theater in the state of Pennsylvania and the third oldest in the country.

Audition Notice
Auditions for "A Midsummer Night's Dream" will be held on June 15 & 16 at 7:30 pm at Barnstormer's Theater, located at the corner of Ward & Tome St. in Ridley Park.
Director Jennifer Wolfe is looking for men and women aged 15-65.
Audition will consist of prepared Shakespearean monologue (sides will be available if you don't have a monologue prepared) NOT from Midsummer. (No longer than 3 minutes), and readings from the script.
Callbacks, if needed, will be held on June 22.
Show runs September 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20
Rehearsals begin July 7. Please bring ALL CONFLICTS to the audition.

Roles consist of the following:
Theseus, Duke of Athens/Oberon, King of the Fairies - These two parts will be played by the same actor (male)
Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons, betrothed to Theseus/Titania, Queen of the Fairies - both parts to be played by the same actress (female)
Lysander, young lover in love with Hermia (male)
Demetrius, another young lover in love with Hermia (male)
Hermia, a young woman in love with Lysander (ideally short/petite) (female)
Helena, a young woman in love with Demetrius (ideally tall) (female)
Egeus, Hermia's father (male)
Philostrate, Theseus' Master of the Revels (male or female)
Puck, Oberon's jester and lieutenant (male or female)
Peasebottom
Cobweb
Moth
Mustardseed - these are 4 Fairies in Titania's service, could be teens, probably female, but not necessarily
The following are the "Mechanicals" - townsfolk who put on the play-within-the-play
Peter Quince - a carpenter -plays the "Prologue" (male or female)
Nick Bottom - a weaver - plays "Pyramus" (male)
Francis Flute - a bellows-mender - plays "Thisbe" (male) teens or 20's - guy in a dress! It's funny!
Tom Snout - a tinker - plays "Wall" (male or female) probably tall
Snug - a joiner - plays "Lion" (male or female)
Robin Starveling - a tailor - plays "Moonshine" (probably male, what with "Man in the Moon" and all...)
Other Fairies and Lords and Attendants as needed.
This production is going to be in modern dress. The Fairies are fun and folksie (think folk festival) rather than ephemeral.
Low tech. Emphasis on the acting. Goal is to have a production that is CLEAR, fun, fast, and silly. and CLEAR!
